Is the band you’re watching “really” your favorite band?
Maybe, maybe not!
Many of the bands touring these days have few, and sometimes ”None” of the key band members that were responsable for the material and, or performances during the Height of that bands popularity!
Is it right for you to pay $80.00 for a ticket to go see a band you have not see in 15 years, only to find out afterward, just the keyboard player”non-singer or song writer” is left from that band you and your wife listened to on your first date?
This website is dedicated to the moral side of this issue, unfortunately, this practice is not illegal, but certainly it is deceptive to say the least.
On this website we will take a look at the bands of old and new, discuss who, if any of the band members were part of this group when they were at the height of their popularity, and we will rate the current line up of these bands.
Well will take a look at each band member, past and current, and discuss if they were an important part of what made that band popular, or if they really had no role in making that band special.
Does it really matter if the original bass player for the Rolling Stones is not with the Rolling Stones anymore? He did not write, co-write, or sing any of the the Rolling Stones hit songs! He retired on his own, was not asked to leave the band, and is not interested in rejoining the band. So I think to most of the Rolling Stones fans, except maybe a few bass players, this is not an issue. So we think it would be fair to say out of a rating of
“1″ to
“5″, the Rolling Stones would be rated
“4.5″.
Bon Jovi would be rated
“5″ stars, they have all the relevant band members from their days of glory. On the other hand, bands like Journey, REO Speedwagon, and Grand Funk Railroad tour endlessly without “Key” members of these bands. The key members for these bands are “available”, and willing to rejoin these bands, but because of egos within the band, these key members are not welcome to tour with the bands they helped make famous. That means you, the consumer, who bought their music, and made them rich, and famous, gets a watered down version of what used to be, and still could be, a great band. These bands will receive a
“2″. Bands with no key members will be rated a
“1″ regardless of how good they sound today.
Remember, this
“5″ star rating is based on current line up, reason the key member”s” of the band are missing, the availability of the missing key member”s”, and the willingness of the band members to put you, the fan first, and set aside any egos, or in-differences for you, the fan! Lynyrd Skynyrd for example only has one original band member ”a guitar player” that is in the current line up. Many of the band members died from a tragic plane crash, or complications from that plane crash, and the keyboard player past away a few years ago, but was still touring with the band at the time he passed away. The current lead singer is the younger brother of the original singer, and the rest of the current band members has the blessing of the family and fans of the original band members. Lynyrd Skynyrd has no other option, and they are not miss-leading anyone. They will receive a
“3.5″,
